What items will become part of our permanent collection?
The following criteria are considered when accepting items to be added to the Forest County Historical Society collections:
- Has significance to Forest County.
- Helps to further understanding of the history of the county.
- Includes historical background/provenance.
How do I know if the Historical Society can use the item I wish to donate?
Contact a Historical Society volunteer by calling 715-478-5900, email us at forestctyhistory@gmail.com or visit the museum at 105 W. Jackson Street in downtown Crandon. (Please do not leave donations unattended at the museum. – Thank you.)
Procedure for Donating Objects to the Historical Society
When you bring in your donation, we ask that you complete a temporary custody form with your name, address, and a description of the item you wish to donate. Your description should include the age, condition and story behind the object(s) whenever possible.
A committee of historical society volunteers will evaluate the donation and determine if the items will be added to our collection. Once the decision has been made to include the objects in the Society’s collection, a Deed of Gift will be provided to the donor, transferring the title and right of possession to the Forest County Historical and Genealogical Society, inc.

(Volunteer instructions: Assist donor in completing form. Print two copies of completed form. Verify signatures on both copies. Provide one copy to donor and place second copy in processing folder)
